Redundancy help please...

Hi all, I have tried to read all the FAQ on this subject but couldn't find what I was looking for!! Any advice gratefully received...

OH was given a letter to say he would be made redundant in 2 weeks time, we have been expecting this for a while. He has now been told that Monday will probably be his last day and it is more then likely that he will not get paid for this month.
I work 31 hours a week and our 2 under 5's are cared for by a childminder and Nursery for the oldest. This takes about 90% of my wages.
Now as we were only officially told this on Mon, I had to give everyone a months notice, which means when it gets to the end of the month with only my wage I will still have to pay everyone an extra week.

Anyway, back on topic, OH's letter states the 2 weeks, but if he does finish on the Mon will he need to get his letter amended, or should he even get them to amend it to the beginning of Feb as they might not pay him?!?

Any advice welcomed, I know that he will need to claim JS and I will sort out the Tax credits.
He has been actively seeking work for about 2 months and had a few interviews so hopefully all my worrying will be for nothing and he will get a job tomorrow!

Thanks in advance
