I have just bought these http://www.startriteshoes.com/boys-and-girls/faye for £24

For my DD, who is starting preschool (uniformed) in Sept. I picked patent black, as they are very robust, and look lovely with tights, frilly socks etc, and are great for casual as well as party!

  • I bought my son a pair of Kickers and I was very disappointed in them. The quality is not what it used to be and personally I would steer clear.

My kids are 11 and 13 and have worn Clarks shoes for school since they were tiny. The initial investment is worth every penny. My youngest got a whole school year out of one pair of Clarks last year, strangely enough his feet didnt grow for ages then jumped two sizes in a short space of time!

When you go to the shop take your time to make sure you are happy with the fit and style. It can be really busy in there and you can feel a bit rushed. The fitters are all trained but some of them are very young and in my experience dont always see the practicalities of kids shoes in the same way that a parent does!

Did you buy these from Wynsors?

Hush puppies are a fitted shoe, and are great if your child has one foot slightly wider or longer than the other, as they fit the feet individually where as clarks shoes come in standard fittings and they allways fit the shoe to the larger foot/size, so if your child is 5f on one foot and 5e the other they would sell you the 5f. Hush puppies would fit one foot a E and the other foot F which would reduce any slipping. IYKWIM
If it has tyres or testicles, it's gonna give ya problems..
