I thought that a large proportion of the any extra money you earn would be knocked of your housing benefit.

True so it makes no sense. The problem is rents are to high for low paid workers in London. For now housing benefit is still high but next year the cap will change everything.

You're confusing the issue considerably by not realising that the £450 cap for rent (now lower than this) is per week, not per month!

Doesnt matter if its per month or per week - its the principle which remains the same.

    Oooops.

Turns out you can't fix a housing shortage by shuffling people around between houses after all....

    Who knew?
    It was inevitable really.

There is however one way of increasing the available housing stock and that is to bring back into use the 100's of thousands of boarded up houses, refurb them and let them out to those in need of them.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

OK you mean the benefit cap of £500 per week? Yes there is a big fuss over £400 cap on housing benfit alone. If total benefits are capped at £500 wk then how much can go on rent so the family can still live on what is left?

At the moment these families get way more than £500 total benefits. Admitidly most of it goes to their LL. But after the £400 housing benfit goes to their LL they still get hundreds in other benfits depending on how many kids they have.

When the £500 cap comes in, many families will have to move out of London, leaving more supply and less demand there.
