This is really interesting because I can relate to what you're going through. I've just quit my job as telemarketer. This is the worst job you could ever imagine. Getting abuse from strangers, low pay and line managers constantly pulling you up over low strike rates. On top of all that moving up to call centre supervisor is no better because they hate their jobs as well. The past year I've dreaded going in and used any excuse to not go in. So I quit. Yep I quit my job even though I don't have another one. Try to understand that my mindset at the beginning (2 years) was I'd make sure I have a job before quitting but I've been unsuccessful and I'm sorry but lifes too short slaving away at a job I hate. So much happier knowing i don't hav to go back to that hell hole.

God knows waht I'm going to do for money though once my holiday pay runs out. Have registered with agencies and using all my free time to fill in application forms. So fingers crossed.

We've all been there, me included. I'm currently in part time work that I loathe. Only sticking it until the income I generate from other sources catches up and plugs the financial gap, then I'll be out of there as fast as a rat up a drainpipe. About three more months should do it, if I don't go completely off my head before then!

I found this article interesting, see what you think and if any of it resonates -

Good for you. I bet you've got your advent calender beside yor alarm clock

Also, a lot of people say that if you hate your job but can't leave it, try to think differently about it. True enough, and for the first year I did see it as a means to an end i'e paying the bills, keeping the roof over my head, better than being on the dole etc. ANd it worked but the boredom caught up and overrode the financial insecurity. Eventually those coping mechanisms that you use stop working.

I've had loads of crap jobs over the years, jobs I really hated, I remember when I first started working I'd pretend to head of to work, wait for my parents to go to work then sneak back into the house, I hated my job so much, I was off more often than I was there. People always say something better is around the corner, for me anyway its been the opposite, you go into the next job and think, "Why the f**k did I leave that last job" its only when your in the next job you appreciate the one before, odd but that's the way its always been to me, so while my current job is hateful to the point of making me depressed there is something else that's a hell of alot worse out there.

I think when you get to the point that you are admitting to total strangers what a horrible effect your job is having on you-it's time to take action.

My last job was a nightmare -well known company but the local manager was completely unbalanced -if it was the week she liked you-then you could do no wrong-if it was a week she didn't-nothing you could do was right. She definitely had mental health issues -and I went from happy and confident (I was experienced in the job and very good at it) to a complete wreck. In the end I had a long weekend away -and once I'd removed myself from the pressure I realized just how bad it was ......and I never went back !

I wouldn't recommend taking things to such extremes in the current job market -it took me 6 months to find a new job with temping and self employed bits and pieces to keep the wolf from the door tiding me over but I don't regret it-I needed a good couple of months before I was even ready to go on interviews that's how much damage was done.
I discovered later I wasn't the first person to refuse to work with her anymore.

My next job (found ironically via a post on here) I'm still there five years later. It's not the perfect job (no job is) and there are some things about it that drive me nuts but it enables me to earn money to fund the things I need and want to do and that's all a job needs to do -acceptable work conditions and a pay packet

OP Start jobhunting -even knowing you are taking steps to improve the situation will help you deal with the job until you find something suitable.

Depends if you're a glass half full or a glass half empty person.

Have you ever considered that if every job is in your mind rubbish that perhaps the problem lies with your mindset and not all the jobs ?

Arghh! that was two of the things that made me resent the job: the money is minimum wage (you'd have to work three back to back shifts a day to earn anything near reasonable) and you couldn't keep your head down because they monitor your every movement and call. First and last time I work in telemarketing. It's soul destroying.

I am the same in regards to money, its not an incentive after being on the dole 4/5 months and being as well off.
