Problems With Experian

Following a particularily messy divorce i have over the last year being trying to rebuild my credit and have subsequently subscribed to the two main credit file agencies EQUIFAX and EXPERIAN only to find that the variation regarding the information they hold to be incredible.
I have contacted Eperian via their email contact to challenge information they have logged against my credit file asking for this to be updated and received a very dissmissive email response .
I had forwarded an email initially asking them to remove a default listing due to an ongoing dispute with the lioyds banking group and was advised that they would contact the lioyds direct as this could only be removed if the lioyds themselves amended the information which they subsequently did however experian still have this listed as a default on my file even after my providing details that the case is being dealt with by the financial ombudsman.
I also asked them for clarification on a ccj lodged against my file incorrectly which is not noted on my Equifax file as the case was settled financially prior to the court hearing date.
I then received a response advising me to contact the registry trust regarding the court judgement .
I have also asked them why the information doesnt update quickly bearing in mind a pay a monthly subscription to Experian of £14.99.
Is there a governing body i can contact for help to enable me to get some consistancy between the credit agancies i subscribe to as this is affecting my ability to obtain a mortgage and any other credit facility .

A few points - just because you;ve been conned into paying a CRA a monthly fee does not mean your profile is updated monthly - it won;t be. If their clients or civil records sweep (Electral Register etc) only update twice a year, nothing will change.
Also, just because an item is in dispute, does not mean the item is removed pending the outcome - it will say in place until the issue has been concluded, and if in your favour this will trigger the removal, but as they say it is up to the originating client to amend the data. The CRA will only do this is if - having had an ombudsman's ruling in your favour, and the firm does not timeously update the data to reflect the new situation, the CRA will have to remove the incorrect data, or vace sanction from the Data Commissioner (which you will have to instigate).
If there is a CCJ showing, then it is the court that provided this information. It remains possible that despite paying the pursuer, the case completed and the order issued. You would need to provide proof that the debt was paid, and that the CCJ should not have been issued. If this was due to the pursuer fouling up, it is they who have to arrange for its removal from the court database (run by Registry Trust) which will then filter through to the CRA.0 -

i am troubled. when i go onto my experian credit report it shows that i have a "good" credit rating of around 950. i earn a salary in excess of £45k but i do have a CCJ and 3 satisfied, but previously defaulted, accounts against my name.
when i go onto equifax it shows me as having a bad credit rating. which one am i to believe?
i have just applied to rent through a letting agents for a property which is only £670 a month but yet despite my earnings and my outgoings being minimal they require a gaurantor for me to be accepted.
i have cleared my debts. the only outstanding default is with a furntiure company who i refuse to pay and this defaulted 6yrs ago in august for £970 and i have an overdraft of £1990 which i clear each month and a credit card with a £2000 limit which i never get to and again clear each month. what more can i do and why do the CRA have such vastly different scores??
i want to apply for credit on a sofa from DFS soon but now i worry i wont be accepted and do not like the idea of being embarrassed.
i welcome any comments!!0 -
I too have noticed a vast difference in the two agencies, as posted here. Obviously different comapnies check your credit using different CRAs, so if you're lucky, and DFS check Experien, I can only take and educated guess that you're more likely to be accepted than if they check Equifax?
Have you tried CallCredit, too?0 -

Your credit score means diddly squat, it is just an expensive number that you pay for.
What is really hurting you is the CCJ and 3 closed defaulted accounts - until they drop of your credit history (in England 6 years after there entered), then you can forget that nice new sofa from DFS, you will have to save & pay cash instead.0 -
Following further emails to Experian i have received yet another dissmissive response adviseing that i should contact the NATWEST BANK who seemingly provided the confirmation that i had a financial association through an alias name . I have written to NATWEST BANK via there email complaints requesting clarification on this as i have never had a business account with the NATWEST BANK which dates back to 2007 and have only actually had a personal account with the NATWEST since 2010 so none of this information makes any sense at all but still remains on my file until i get a satisfactory response from THE NATWEST BANK. Where do these organisations get there information from and why is so hard to get corrections done to incorrectly logged details0
