Hi all
I am currently trying to sort my finances out with cccs and have sent off for a experian credit report.
Today I received the report but I am very confused because it only shows 2 defaults on the report which I have recently paided off ,but I am being chased from 3 other debt collecting agencies for other debts which do not show up on the credit report???
Why do they not show up on the report? And how can I find out my credit report accurately?
Thanks for any advice
Brett

How old are the debts that are not listed? If the default date was over 6 years ago, they would not show on your credit report.0

The debts are about 5 years old0

It might be worth you checking with the other two credit reference agencies Equifax and CallCredit to see if they are listed on there.0

Yep - there are 3 credit reference agencies and some debts are only recorded on one of them (and indeed some creditors only check one when assessing an application - which is why you can somtimes get a loan/credit when you have defaults). You need all 3 reports to cover all the possibilities.0

Ok thanks I will check the other 2
Thanks for the advice0 -
Reasons they might not show up:-
- Defaulted more than 6 years ago (not here I know).
- Creditors don't report to Experian (try other agencies).
- Creditors don't share data at all - e.g Council tax, some older telecoms/utilities and some other non "credit" types.
- Address mismatch on data you supplied. i.e. if debts were at a certain address, but the ones you supplied to get the report either don't list that address or it was written subtly different to the one on file with the creditor. Basically, the CRA can have a record of the debt, but a slight mismatch prevents their automated systems from linking it to your current report and showing. (Had this happen myself).
- Debts have been sold on, but buying debt collector does not report data to CRAs.
- Debts are in process of being sold on. Can result in accounts going AWOL for a short time.
