I know this is a really weird question, but I don't know where else to ask it ....
My poor Mum has been told by her GP to cut down on her sherry drinking (she's my Dad's carer, so she's been using it as her stress relief). Talking to her, I think she drinks a lot of sherry because it's fortified and so she's supposed to drink small glasses (and doesn't !) and so we were both wondering if there was a wine that tasted a bit like sherry - so that she can drink a bigger glass, with the same number of alcohol units in it ?
Does anyone know if there's a wine that tastes like that ? I'd like to be able to find her something before her birthday.
Thanks.

My OH Mum buys a red that tastes of sherry he is away at the moment but will ask him to find out the name of the wine
It is from Asda and normally on the 3 for 10 pound deals
Will Pm you if you like when I find out, but is it wise to encourage the drinking?0 -

I don't need to encourage her - she will NEVER stay off it completely, as soon as the "numbers" that give the health of her liver improve. I know that, she knows that, the doctor knows that. She's nearly 80 herself - so, yes, it may knock a few years off her, but at least she'll be happier? I'm just trying to come up with a strategy which might help her to drink less when she starts up again. It will happen anyway
Thanks for the offer - will look forward to hearing back from you.0 -
This is a lovely one, I've had it from Morrison's and ASDA, costs about £4 or £5. I think the last time I bought it though the label was quite a bit different to this but it still tasted yummy!Weebles wobble but they don't fall down! :j0 -

Have had a look round to see who stocks it. Is it VERY sweet ?0 -
It is quite sweet, I don't normally like red wine but was talked in to trying it and I think it tastes like a cross between a port and a sherry. If mum doesn't like it maybe you could help out and finish it off for herWeebles wobble but they don't fall down! :j0

Does your mum like lemonade, I used to find that sherry and lemonade in a tall glass was a nice refreshing drink and you could still taste the sherry quite strongly.0
