Hi,
Has anyone had any dealings with a company call 'DMS Ltd - Debt Management Services Ltd' ??
I have had a hand delivered letter posted to my house and on the letter itself it says 'To The Occupier, then my address' hand written.
My neighbour said this gentlemen in a suit knocked on his door asking does anyone live at my address, and he said yes, but didnt give any names.
The letter says
Dear Occupier,
We have been instructed on behalf of the lender who has a mortgage over the property you are occupying to undertake an occupancy check.
Unfortunately, I was unable to make contact with you today and I would appreciate it if you would contact me as soon as possible to confirm your tenancy details.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Yours sincerely
DMS Representative
Can anyone tell me what these people do and who are they?
I rent my property and does this mean my landlord is in trouble with debt or something? I ent got a clue.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for link. They deal with Mortgage debt and other debt, so does this mean they are after my land lord or can it be for any type of debt?0 -
The letter says mortgage, so why not contact your landlord and tell him someone has been to the house regarding the mortgage.
Mind you it could cause you problems especially if he hasn't got permission from the mortgage company to let the house, but at least you are forewarned if he isn't paying the mortgage and the property is reposessed. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Equally, it could be a scam of some sort. Under no circumstances would I give any information of the sort requested to a cold caller.
It does not ring true that it is not the mortgage lender themselves who are making the enquiry, If they are genuine, they need to find a better way of doing itHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Agreed but as the mortgage has nothing to do with the OP I can't see any harm in him telling the landlord, the person who is responsible for the mortgage and put the ball in his court, and if someone does come to the door he only has to say ' I'm not responsible for the mortgage at this address' and shut the door.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -

OK But what I am saying is that the caller appeared to be from a company who chase mortgage, maybe secured loan arrears.
The OP is only the tenant, so mortgage arrears are not his problem, that is unless it reaches a stage where the landlord doesn't pay his mortgage, the property is reposessed and then the tenant would be in a sticky situation.
So anyone enquiring about the person who should be paying the mortgage needs to be speaking to the landlord.
If the OP tells the landlord someone has been asking about the mortgage then he has done all he can, if someone does call again and the OP answers the door then as I said he only needs to say 'I'm not responsible for the mortgage'.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
