Recently purchased a GAMING PC AMD FX 4100:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/GAMING-4100-Quad-Core-DDR5-VGA-DVI-HDMI-DirectX/dp/B004GY2JAK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339861080&sr=8-1
Working OK but when we moved it to another room, the first thing it comes up with when it is switched on is:
Motherboard M5A78L-M LX
DEL -> BIOS Setup
TAB -> Display BIOS Post Message
F8 -> Boot Menu
Alt + F2 -> E2 Flash 2
Alas none of the keys on the USB keyboard have any effect.
Any idea what this means or what has caused it ... and in particular, whether it is possible for a non-techie like myself to easily resolve? Or would I be best going back to the retailer to get it sorted?

Go into the BIOS and check that USB keyboard is selected.
Boot as normal.
If it still doesn't work try swapping the usb into a different socket.
If still no joy unplug the keyboard after the bios and while it is still loading. Once it is up and running plug the keyboard in. Windows should recognise it and load the drivers.0 -

Thanks for the response.
When you say go into the bios, do you mean my selecting the DEL key? Alas that does nothing. We have tried the keyboard in a different USB port and that made no difference either0 -
The screen you're seeing is the standrad BIOS screen, abnd frankly the system should then go onto loading windows from the hdd.
WHat puzzles me is that its sticking there without giving you any further info, such as it can;t find the system, Even if the keybaord and mouse weren't attached it should at least boot properly ot give you an error message..
Two possibilities occur to me; (i) make sure the usb keyboard/mouse are inserted into the right way round, and that the sockets haven't been forced or damaged. (ii) unlikley, but possibly an internal cable has become detached. Either way I'd give Bedir Shop and/or Amazon a call.0 -
Thanks both for your suggestions.
My son unplugged the PC from the multisocket plug and put the plug straight into the wall socket, moved the wireless mouse to a different USB port, inserted the dongle that is necessary to get wireless broadband into a USB socket ... and hey presto, it works!!!
Don't ask me how ... but it is quite a relief.0 -
Sometimes you dont need to know whats wrong, just how to fix it.
I used to send my engineers out with a hard drive with Ghost images of all the machine types we were supporting. The instructions was easy. You spend 20 mins trying to fix it, if you cant do it in 20 mins, then you have two choices, either its a hardware fault so you call it in to the hardware guy and move on, or you reimage the machine off the image you have with you, which took ten minutes. That fixes any software fault of any description. Thus 30 mins to fix any pc.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts.
