Is it possible to renew vows in Egypt?

It is coming up to our first anniversary and we are booked to go to Egypt near the time.
My husband ask's me every day to marry him again & we have discussed renewing our vows & would love to do it every year ( if funds allow )
So I got to thinking .... Surprise him with an intimate renewal while we are away?
However I am unsure if it's possible in Egypt with it being a muslin country & my Internet searching has been fruitless :-/
Can anyone help? I've tried the holiday supplier, they can't help! The hotel has no website!!
If not Egypt then is there anywhere reasonably close we could visit while there? We are only away for a week so would have to be quite close
:-)
Thanks in advance ladies and gents!

    Hi Neenaww,

I can't beleive it nearly a year! Not very easy to find information, but i've found this wedding planners site for Egypt, maybe an email to her & she might be able to help you.

As a vow renewal ceremony is a personal celebration, a symbolic one rather that anything Legal, anyone can do it. As you will probably pretty much choose the words you will say to one another, look up 'celebrant' if you want someone to put together a script for the rest.,perhaps someone from the hotel could read it at a nice special location?

I admire your romance and commitment to each other but renewing every year..?? I thought they were made to each other 'for life', the first time? None of my business anyway and hope you have a lovely time.

Fawny I have sent an enquiry, thanks again! I will let you know what happens!

Rosie-lee, the 'every year' thing was just something we chatted about & is very personal to us (funds will decide whether it happens or not!). Yes we did make our vows for life, but why shouldn't we remind & show each other how much we love each other as often as we like?

Thank you for your advice also I will look into that option too :)

  • Not sure if you mean a civil/non-religious vow renewal? Egypt has a significant Christian minority so a local church might do a wee ceremony for you?

I guess it would depend on your location in Egypt - when you know the town/area then you could email your hotel or contact local large churches?

The tradition in Egypt is orthodox Coptic Christian - but as you're not having an official ceremony, but renewing your vows I can't see any reason for any official problems.

The other option is for a Muslim-style ceremony, maybe a big nearby tourist hotel would help you find an Imam for a garden service? It could be nice to dress a bit differently for the occasion.

Just a few ideas, otherwise not sure what to suggest!

Perhaps contacting the The British Orthodox Church? http://britishorthodox.org/contact-us/

Edit: a very quick google for "wedding planner egypt" gave these 3 results on the 1st page:

OMG do you have a different version of Google to me?! :rotfl: That's the first thing I tried but got nothing!! We are staying just outside Sharm, the hotel has no website & the holiday company I booked through couldn't help. Hotel has a private beach & I was hoping for something intimate & personal on the beach to kind of recreate our wedding. I will follow your links and see what I come up with, thank you so much for your super clever Google! :T

Note to self, get a more modern laptop/ phone/ search engine!!
