Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance

Wasn't sure where to post this query, here or in the Insurance forum? Anyway I've just remortgaged with C&G and I'd like to protect my payments. Previously I took my C&G mortgage via London & Country but this time I decided that the mortgage deal I was offered by C&G matched the best that L&C could come up. Anyway previously L&C automatically got me a quote for mortgage payment protection from a company they use, this time this won't happen. Where do I go looking for this? Is it like Car/Home insurance, are there websites like confused.com for finding cheap cover?
Any advice/info would be gratefully received.

Trying hard to be a good moneysaver.

Cheap cover is not the best cover.
There are insurance policies that are underwritten at the application stage and there are those that are underwritten at the point of claim. The best one would be the one that is underwritten at application stage as you know that the claim will be accepted.
Also there are policies that pay out benefit for one year and those that pay out benefit for two years.
Not that easy.
