Hello all,
The school my daughter goes to has just dropped the bombshell that instead of wearing red for red nose day they are dressing up with a caribbean theme
I haven't got the time or money to go looking for outfits, any idea what I could do? Keep thinking of a flower garland but thats hawaii isn't it.
Damn schools lol
Thanks Kerry

You weren't given much notice then! I would have thought that most people will mix up Hawaiian with caribbean so a flower garland would be absolutely fine. Or maybe your daughter could wear the colous of one of the caribbean islands' flags (i.e. Jamaican flag is black, yellow and green)?0

Hi
God how I hate this school dressing up thing !! How about some long colourful shorts, a bright T shirt, some flip flops (to change into at school) a straw hat or a colourful baseball cap. Maybe a long gypsy skirt, a colourful blouse that can be half unbuttoned and then knotted at waist, some bright beads and a flower for her hair. If of course you have these things !!!!0 -
Thanks you two! Some good ideas there! I wish they wouldn't spring these things on us! Although I know the 'IT' crowds kids will all have superb costumes  secretly I think they all have an extra month to prepare lol
thanks again0 -
yeah maybe the IT crowd mums hide the newsletters until the day before the event! think i feel a conspiracy theory coming on, better go and lie down...weaving through the chaos...0

Do you have any pirate stuff - she could be a Pirate of the Caribbean (why has the rum gone ?) - or has she by any chance got one of those Elizabeth Swan dresses from M&S ? Just a thought, and at least I know which DVD I'm going to watch tonight
Why do schools insist on doing this dressing up lark all the blimming time anyway - surely just wearing your own clothes for the day and bringing in £1 is the easiest and most popular way of raising money for charity at school ? All the kids like it and it's fine for those who don't like 'dressing up'. My kids have got to wear 'big' clothes tomorrow  Rant, rant, rant....0 -

I agree that they should just where their own stuff, much easier. Just think of all the money they waste on costumes just to give a quid to charity?!:mad:0 -
yeah it does make me laugh (wryly) when mums buy outfits specially for these fundraising days...they could donate half the money instead and we'd end up raising much more instead of our blood pressures!weaving through the chaos...0
