Post Office Mortgage - I am soooo impressed

I know we normally all like to share what rubbish service we get from some companies. Well, today I thought I ought to share how impressed I have been with the Post Office mortgage (so far!).
Me and the other half decided to move and got our offer accepted on the house we wanted. Originally I was going to go with another provider with a slightly better rate but they were impossible to get hold off and the post office rate wasn't far behind (3.39 fixed over 3 years on a 75% LTV), so I decided to go with them. I did the application online on Friday night last week. Got the AIP straight away and paid the survey fee there and then.
On the Monday morning, I got a text message confirming their agreement and then in the afternoon I got a couple of texts about the survey, saying an appointment had been made. I honestly thought there must have been a mistake. So on the Wednesday morning, I called them to double check and they said "yes, it's being done today". I couldn't believe my ears.
We were a bit worried about their valuation coming back below our offer because the house has a partially built extension which we understood they wouldn't take into account. So on Thursday, I called them back to see if they could tell me how it had gone. The lady on the phone was saying "I'm sure there won't be any problems, but I'll just check" and to my relief they did value it at the price we offered!
And finally, yesterday when I got home, what was waiting for me but the mortgage offer!
That was less than a week from application to offer! I am sooo impressed, that I thought I really should share it with the world! My solicitor says he's never seen that...
If only the guy who's buying my house had picked such a good mortgage provider... We accepted his offer 2 weeks before we got ours accepted and so far have heard nothing.

Yes post office is efficient but they only deal directly and straight forward cases are handled very swiftly. Good one

It's not just the lender, your credit report and salary multiples were key to the whole process.

Good luck with your new home

I got my mortgage with the Post Office last year, FTB, buying on my own, 85% LTV on a rough around the edges repo in a decent area. My experience was similar to yours, applied online and accepted, survey swiftly carried out, dispatched the last 3 months payslips and the mortgage offer dropped through my letterbox a week later - valued at my offer price, plus the valuer noted 'strong scope for improvement in value'.

Having never had a mortgage before I was very impressed, most people I know have so much more hassle!

I can vouch for them as well, I got my first mortgage from them 2 years ago this month.

Went as smooth as anything (there solicitors had a minor hiccup here or there... sending my a form to re-mortgage the house I was currently living in was the first mistake, since I was renting it!)
After that they were faultless and fast.

Ditto everyone elses comment's about the post office's efficiency, my only issue being that you couldn't phone the underwriter direct and had to go through their 0845 number when you wanted to speak to someone.

Just like steveott it appears my solicitors (and others involved in the purchase) are nowhere near as efficient and are making the whole process a lenghty nightmare!!!
