bankrupt and worried about job

HELP AND ADVICE PLEASE My friend has just been advised to go bankrupt but is worried about her job as she works for a well known insurance company. Would her employer find out, and could she lose her job.

when working for companies where you are dealing with money, when you are interviewed they ask these questions

Ask your friend to check her contract to see if there is a bankruptcy clause, or an anonymous call to the HR department and ask them.

If the company doesnt like br employees they will find out as they can easily check online and if they were given a nil tax code then work would be able to figure it out. Having said that i work within a large public company and they have been brilliant with me. I did however make an annoymous phone call to hr department first to check

When you go BR you are given a NIL Tax code for the year - you don't pay income tax whilst BR.

Well, most don't. They couldn't change mine in time (went BR at the end of March years ago) so they just arranged for the inland revenue to give the tax they charged to my creditors or something along those lines.

But yes, tax code changes so Payroll would be able to figure it out but an anonymous call to HR first would be best.

My contract of employment just states I need to make them aware. Nothing more.
