Can't say I fully understand what you are saying, but in the real world if you take something faulty back to any major store after owning it for 6 - 12 months it will either be repaired or replaced. They will not ask you to prove the fault was inherent.

Then you need to find out more about what happens when you bring something back to a retailer.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

If its in it's one year warranty period and it's faulty they repair or replace, what more do I need to know?

My point is that most people don't have to be concerned about consumer law, if they take faulty goods back to a reputable company during its one year guarantee period.

Of course after that period then they can look at SOGA if they want to.

Did you read post number 25?

It may help you understand why the consumer needs SOGA within the first twelve months.

I did read post 25 and I still don't understand, most retailers in this country give a 12 month guarantee. I know Asda is one of them so why does the 6 month cut off come into play.

The point is, RETAILERS do not (usually) give any warranty whatsoever. MANUFACTURERS do though. But such warranties can have pretty much any terms they like - so if they say you need to hop on one leg naked to get a replacement then ... :D

Yes but the retailer handle the warranty claim for you and most reputable retailers never ask you to hop on one leg naked :)
