What kinds of books are you looking to buy ? New / Used, for leisure / school ?

    Hi

I tend to read sci-fi/fantasy books so might not be to your tastes :) Ive just read Knees up mother earth by Robert Rankin which was convuluted but funny.

A colleague is reading The Distance Between Us by Maggie O'Farell and finding it very interesting, you might want to check her out. I tend to get book reccomendations from BookCrossing.com or other review sites/friends. I like the Amazon site for browsing, it has more information than most. I then tend to use price comparison sites like Kelkoo or Dealtime or even google to hunt down the cheapest price.

Ive heard that https://www.thehut.com doesnt charge for p&p but that is probably reflected in higher overall prices. The book above is £7.99 from them but £7.45 from Amazon with P&P, so its swings and roundabouts.

I've used BOL quite happily for years, they're fine as long as you don't expect your books quickly. You can also get 10% cashback with greasypalm or rpoints. :D

I used a number of different book comparison sites before ordering mine :-

    http://www.bookbrain.co.uk/

    http://www.bookbutler.co.uk/Search.po;jsessionid=2Oa75ZzaWU1NP698xohhSDMM

    http://www.saveonbooks.co.uk/

    http://www.cheapest-book-prices.co.uk/

    http://www.fetchbook.co.uk/

And if you want second hand books for £3.75 for a paperback incl delivery :-

I have used uk.bol.com. They have a broad, affordable range.

One of my other favourite places for books is The Works bookshop. They sell their books via the web and at their many High street branches up & down the UK (including mainland England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

The majority of their large (fiction) hardbacks start from £2.99 up to around £3.99. Their paperbacks tend to be £1.99 or you can get 3 for £5. They also have chart paperback books, like Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code for £3.99.

The Works' online store doesn't have as big a range as it's High Street stores, but is still worth a look. All orders of £25 or over qualify for free delivery.

Also try your local market if you can make it there some have 2nd hand / cheap new book sellers or check online for book exchange clubs.

They work in a similar way to bookcrossing except you join and receive a book in the post which you read and post on to the next person in the list and also jot your opinion of it online.

Check out - http://www.meetup.com/ it has some book clubs on it. Im ashamed to say I joined but never managed to get up early enough on a sat to attend any *blush*
