Nat West TV Offer - Has Anyone?

Has anyone taken up Nat West's TV ad challenge? - Cheaper monthly mortgage repayments if your existing mortgage is with Abbey, Halifax etc. or £100 cash. I have been told I need to make an appointment with a Mortgage Advisor and am wondering if it would be 'worthwhile' or if there are any hidden conditions which meant they would not have to pay out. Do they compare 'like for like' for instance?

Here's the small print from their website
Advertised 2-5 year discounted/fixed and tracker rates compared against our 2 year discounted mortgage. Early repayment charge until 30/06/07. Fees apply. The overall cost for comparison is 6.7% APR (variable)
Your current mortgage must be for at least £50,000 with loan-to-value of 75% or less. Proof of new Halifax/Abbey/ Cheltenham & Gloucester repayments required. Excludes internet, staff concessionary, buy-to-let, offset and current account mortgage deals. Offer may be withdrawn at any time. Other NatWest mortgages may be more suitable.0 -
Hi Jules
I did the Nat West TV challenge online, I don't have the link for it but i will try to find it.
The Nat West could'nt do me a cheaper monthly mortgage repayment so at the end of the challenge they gave me a number to ring a free number to claim the £100.
hope this is of some help

I did this online too:
http://www.natwestoffers.com/mortgages/challenge.aspx
My new C&G deal is a 0.01% below base rate tracker for 14 months and then 0.45% tracker for the remainder of the term flexible mortgage. Natwest stated that they could beat this, but didn't quote any rates/charges/tie-ins/T&Cs etc. (but I think that they are only comparing it for the first two years so I've not actually followed this up).
So maybe it's worth checking it out online first if you're only after the £100? It will save you a trip to a branch and a sales pitch from a mortgage advisor...?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Thanks to all those who replied. It sounds encouraging. I will get on with applying on line now.0
