Lost Birth Certificate - How prevent ID theives?

Hope you can help
I recently sent off my birth certificate to my pensions office but the post was lost on route and is untraceable! If it falls into the wrong hands, not only do they have an original document but they have my address and employment details!!!
I've reported the certificate lost to the police and ordered a new one through the council but is there anything I can do to prevent ID fraud?
Any advice would be appreciated

The first thing to do - immediately - is to stop worrying about it !
It is 99.9% certain that it is just lost in the system. It is highly unlikely that some criminal mastermind is plotting to steal all your family wealth. You are more likely to have you ID stolen when you use your credit card in a garage !0 -
Given anyone can get a copy of a birth certificate it really is a waste of time worrying... other option is to throw yourself under a steam rollerAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Thanks for your reply and you were right...it was just lost in the system and turned up yesterday.
I will worry less in the future or else look for the nearest steam roller
Many thanks
