whizzy way to view your savings...

Hi
I'm posting this in the hope it helps people to 'see' their money. It's my first attempt.
I'm learning a very whizzy bit of software for work which produces so-called 'dashboards', and this struck me as a brilliant use for it. I don't think there are any copyright etc issues with using it like this. Here's the link:
http://summerseve.iwarp.com/household%20budget%20dashboard.pdf
What it is - a 'dashboard' with sliders to adjust your income costs, to see how much you have left over for food and other household bills. So if you decide to pay less for - or stop - your satellite, for example, slide that to 0 and the amount of money for food goes up. Or if you are able to pay more into your account one month, slide that and you can see how much more money you may have.
I thought it might be good for those who get eyestrain looking at spreadsheet style columns of numbers... although I don't think it applies to many here, we all seem to love our lists!
I hope it's useful, please let me know.

total debt as at 02/02/06 = 18944
2006 target = finally get my share of money from divorce, pay off cards
rest of year = use remaining money to build up house deposit
2007 = buy a house
I did it - am now safely in house with my boyfriend. We're sorting out our joint finances and getting organised. GOOD LUCK to all those on the board. You can get there.

Hi
Sorry you can't see it!
I know the thing loads as I just tried it .. there is a bit of blank space at the top of the page though, I had to scroll down.
What error message are you getting? I wonder if there's an internet setting somewhere stopping you seeing the file - it contains Flash aspects so your browser might be stopping you seeing it.
I'll see if I can figure it out/save in another format.

Like it - its a good way to show my OH outgoings cos he gets number blind (bless:rolleyes: ) with too many spreradsheets.
Just a note tho - the loan payments arent registering for me! Thought it looked too good to be true when I put them in and they didnt affect the dial.

Well spotted (loans slider not working) - I'm fixing it now... -FIXED.
This bit of software lets you put sliders for anything you want. It can basically work magic. (!!)
To give you an idea, I have read Chapter 1 of the manual for it and this is what I did. That's my idea of a good bit of software. (It's called Xcelsius and you can buy it from my company - and many others .....I know, I'm not allowed to advertise - but compared to others things which do this, my team all think it's very good value!!)
I'm learning it so I can deliver training in it to our customers. I think I've got at least one example now....:rotfl:

Brilliantly simple idea. Perfect for money juggling.
Be fantastic if sliders could be added for misc household bills (like tv licence etc) car costs (fuel) etc.
Also any chance of upping the sliders for satellite tv and gas and electric? Full satellite costs can be more than £50 and gas/electric can be higher too depending of your size of house.0
