    Why dont you go and stamp yur feet at work and see how far it gets you?

    Perhaps you need to go and see an employment law solicitor and try to sue for discrimination. You will have to pay yourself out of your own money though.

    Not stamping my feet came on here for advice on the situation, and considering that the UNION i am a member of told me there are grounds for this to go further then i think i am within my rights to come on here without being ridiculed.

    I'd be slightly wary of unions Miabsdad. We get a Lot of posters here given very dodgy advice by their respective unions. In a recent redundancy drive my union signed off on a deal that pretty much let our old company say take redundancy or f off to all the mums. We had no recourse, as the union was in on it. Though in reality, after that, most didn't want to be there.
    Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind

    A union member as well :eek:
    If you keep banging on about your "rights" expect to be managed out of the company within the year.

    Personally I would MTFU, drop this ridiculous pat leave thing and focus on providing for your family.

    Your going nowhere with this apart from leaving work on your !!!! basically. Seriously you start jumping up and down with this in todays climate and how long do you think you will last?.

    Why didnt you save up before you had your child instead of expecting your employer to support on full pay you whilst you are "bonding" with your child?
    How do you think it will look to your colleagues if you are trying to have your employer over a barrel about this. They will be having a right laugh.

    They often do, as do hr managers and lots of others who deal with them. They can't all be right. And sometimes, with unions their gospel statements are more what they'd like to see. Not that I'm anti union at all, just wary enough of both them and companies.

    I think the company are treating both parents the same. They offer full pay for the first 26 weeks of natal leave, regardless of which parent takes it.

    The government, on the other hand, is treating parents differently by decreeing only the mother can take the first 20 weeks of this leave. So should you wish to take this further I think your quarrel should be with this legislation not your company.

    OP, i can see where you are coming from but i can also see where you are getting your wires crossed. If companys had to start giving this enhanced pay to fathers aswell as mums then it would double the bill overnight, just imagine the scenario of a couple working for the same company, mum has 20 weeks off paid and then they have to give 26 weeks to the father. Its never going to happen and nor should it.
    Let your wife stay at home with the kid, theyre better at it.

    Of course women don't have careers to further, never get better paid than men, don't contribute financially to their children's education, and provide utterly no positive role models to their children.
