Free REPLACEMENT brake pads and shoes at Kwik Fit

I know this isn't exactly a 'freebie' outright, but not sure where else to put it - so please move wherever if necessary!
(Also couldn't see another post regarding this on the search, but then again I can never find anything I want on the search so apologies if this is a duplicate.)
Anyway, if you are in need of brake pads or shoes in the near future, kwik fit might be the place to go - if you buy the next set from Kwik Fit, they will replace the brake pads/shoes for free when they are worn down again. That includes the fitting as well as the parts.
Granted, I assume people get at least a year or two's driving out of brake pads, though for those currently with automatics like myself, it's a little less! And as it's valid "as long as you own your car" could be well worth it.
Saw the ad in the paper btw, (first set has to be bought before the 31st December 2007, and as usual keep the receipt!) though there is a smaller notice here:

hope that's of use to someone

Still a saving of £25 when they replace them free the next time thought.... Depends if you want to outlay that extra 25 to save it in a year or two!James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -
I did this "free" test and they told me I needed to change the pads and the discs asap. I was quoted £297. I couldn't afford it so held off. The guy at kwikfit said they would be gone within the month. A couple of months later they still felt fine. I then took my car in for an annual service and asked the garage to check the brakes for me. They came back and said there was more than 70% wear left...
Contacted kwikfit and they didn't care in the least. In fact they got all snotty about it saying it was too long after the time to be able to follow up. I told them I though it was deliberate deception and that they would never see another penny from me or anyone else who heard the story. Of course this did not phase them in the slightest. My advice to you is get a second opinion...better still avoid this company they are inept and that is being kind.0 -

Blimey, only a year or two out of brake pads!!! I have been on the same set since I bought my car (Nissan Almera 1.4 hatch back) in 2000 (mileage on car is now 115,000)......When i had them checked last year, with intent to have them changed, the mechanic told me that they are fine for a couple more years, and they are as well (as verified by last service)!!"I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -
I would avoid Kwikfit as well..........
A bit different.....
But.....
They do free puncture repair
But if you take a tyre in for a repair they will convince you its irrepairable
They would still charge you for valve & balancing but that aint enough
I had a large screw in my tyre... so called into kwikfit..
They said it needed a new tyre
Anyway I 'said' I had to go to the bank if I needed a new tyre....
Drove in to national tyres 2 units down the road....
And they repaired it
Strange that quickfit said it needed a new tyre0 -

Are you sure about the free puncture repair?
They charged me £10 a month ago0 -
Its free puncture repair if you bought the tyre from them & have the receipt I believe.
Ref the brake pads, the majority of motorists probably change their cars more frequently than the brakes wear out, so the deal is almost worthless. They are not going to offer a deal that costs them money.0 -
Apologies if anyone here works at kwik-fit, but have you seen half the monkeys that work there? I would never even let them near my car. Would rather do it myself and save the hassle of getting told stuff needed replacing when it is perfectly fine.
They prey on making you think your car is a death-trap, so you spend £xxx on repairs that may not even be needed.0 -
Agree with chief and hechizero. Kiwk fit just want your money, will tell blantant lies to get you to have work done by them. Also haven't had my brakes done since I bought my car in 2004, I'm sure kwik fit would tell me they're knackered but seeing as my dads a mechanic, I know they're ok. Plus kwik fit prob charge 3 maybe 4 times as much labour as my dad. (And thats his standard price!)0
