Friday the 15th June what DFW things are we doing today

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:j

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

I am going to have a NSD. Honest I am :rotfl:

Don't have anything for lunch at work, going to bribe the boss into paying for mine :rotfl:

Dh has chicken pieces out defrosting, so that's his dinner sorted for tonight. I will have some leftover risotto from last night. We are going out to a gig tonight, so won't be spending anything tonight.

And that's about it really lol x

No sorry, I'm on swagbucks as we speak racking up as many points as I can, will check banking as well x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    :hello: Morning all,

Haven't been looking forward to today as I have to go to the dentist to have a tooth out,. But this is what I will attempt!
    • Have already checked bank accounts. DH is still owed over £700. Payment is 3 weeks late. So have had to transfer some money from the savings account over to cover direct debits etc.
    • Must see if I can do any surveys.
    • Meals from stores.
    • Try and use car, the problem was a flat battery but I need to see if it has stayed charged.
    • Post my nephew's birthday card, honestly I am rubbish with birthdays.
It really hurt that I had to take money from savings, then I realised that this is the first time in around 10 years that we've had any saving to fall back on!

Have a good day all.:D (but with one tooth less in grin!)

  • Hi all,

I am guilty of lurking and not posting again. Thanks to LPP for starting us off. Barbeduk - hope the dentist goes well :)

WARNING: POST TURNS INTO A MOAN. MY APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE!

Today is a sad day as I am giving away my little pets to my friend. I haven't got the time to look after them but it is sad :(

Also had had a argument with OH about going to a party tonight. Told him days ago that I didn't want to go because I have a very busy weekend ahead to which he replied that in that case he wouldn't go either. Then proceeded to moan constantly about how he wished he was going.

Upshot is I'm going and I have to stay overnight with him in a single bed now.

    Anyway, MSE things... not many:

Getting shot of pets will save about £10 a month (will miss cuddles though)

Going to party has given me an unexpected expense of the train fare (only about £3.60 though)

    Charged phone in work

    Lunch from stores

Dinner and booze paid for by my brother-in-law (hopefully!)

I am also on a diet so have not eaten as much and have steered clear of wine all week so saved there! (really want cheesecake though)

Mostly though I feel in need of a kick up the money a$$ though. I'm struggling a bit with motivation. This month sees 50% of the debt gone. It's not that I am itching to spend money, but I am bored of paying back debts and I want to be at the next stage.

I feel very frustrated because OH is at uni but will NOT use any of his student loan to pay off his CC and also has refused to get a job over the summer, on the basis that he needs to time to get better at his chosen degree.

I also feel that although he is mostly on board with the mse stuff, he doesn't feel that same urgency to move on that I do (he isn't much of a long-term thinker).

Has anyone got any ideas of how I can pep myself up again? Might look at the up your income board but don't have much free time tbh. Having said that, my appraisal is on 2nd July. You never know!

I'm sorry this is a rant/moan/generally off topic. It all suddenly came out! Feel free to split the post/berate me accordingly :D

    Thanks guys!!

    Hi all

Barbed - Hope all went ok
Carrielovesfanta - Rant away, thats what we are here for!! Hopefully you will have a nice time at the party, and then you can twist it to your favour and get the OH to do some super MSEing!!

Well I haven't been very good today, treated myself to a coffee at work (a little celebratory as work have agreed to fund my post grad course, effective £2500 worth of training) so that's pretty exciting. Is going to kill me working full time and studying part time but hopefully it'll be worth it (and will stop me spending in that time!!)

    Also today:
    * Checked banks
    * Sent letter to Lloyds to close unused account
    * Signed up to swagbucks (finally...not sure I get it)
    * Washing on at 30 and about to go on the indoor airer as don't trust the weather!
    * Quick tidy up before dashing off to OHs

    Thats pretty much my lot

    Hope all is well

    S x
I have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!
