Mortgage application and late credit card payment

I've applied for a mortgage recently and it's just going through the final stages of underwriting. I am currently having a melt down as I've sat down this evening to review my finances again and I've noticed that I missed one credit card payment. I have just paid it, 2 days late. Aside from this my credit history is unblemished, for years. Will this be reported and show on my credit file straight away? At this stage in my mortgage application surely all credit checks are complete?! I can't believe I've let this happen. This month of all months.

I've just got hold of a a free credit report and it't not showing..

Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly received. I don't know how I'll sleep tonight.

2 days late usually wont show on a credit file unless it laps over from 1 month to the next.

Dont worry, credit check has been done.

No point worrying about something thats happened, if they decline it then worry but i suspect they are just checking the information you gave matches the evidence provided so i wouldnt be worrying.

  • Thanks for the reply. I thought the credit check must have been done ages ago. On my credit report the card in question is showing as last updated 6th June so I hope now it won't update until 7th July and by then I should hopefully have moved in and pai dmy 1st mortgage payment. I still feel very angry with myself, but hopwfully I'll get the call tomorrow to say my mortgage is 100% approved and underwritten... Thanks again.

Barclaycard are ruthless and will report instantly. As ACG says you have passed now. May be a further search later on but fingers crossed no issues. Keep receipt of payment and forward it to lender IF asked.

  • Thanks - it was an M&S card I paid 2 days late. I hope they are not like Barclaycard. If the mortgage app goes through I won't be applying for any more credit for a long time...

Hi there - as has already been stated, I'm sure that the check will already have been done but, for your wn sanity, you could check all three reference agencies for the search - it will show up by the lender. Hope your move goes smoothly :-)
  • Thanks. are the 3 Equifax (this is where I already have one from), Experian and Noddle? also, should i tell my mortgage broker what's happened tomorrow ?

Always be 100% honest with your broker. This will allow them to fight your corner with factual information. Witholding information will help nobody.
