Hi
Does any body know if the LGPS is a good pension scheme.
The University I work at are offering it, you pay 6% of your salary and they contribute 11.6%.
Thanks.

It is one of the best you can possibly have (I'm in it).
However, I am referring to the LGPS Final Salary scheme. I'm not sure I've heard of a LGPS scheme that contributes "only" 11.6%, even though this is a substantial sum in many respects.
The LGPS final salary scheme pays a pension based on your final salary, regardless of what the employer contributes, so the 11.6% (providing you're definitely talking about the LGPS) is fairly meaningless.
I would suggest you speak to your scheme administrators to confirm that you are in the LGPS FS scheme.0
