Natwest - Experto Credite

Hello,

Would be very grateful for help with this issue -

I have recieved three seperate letters this morning from Natwest - all referencing different accounts - basically advising me they have been unable to contact me to agree a re-payment plan so have passed my details onto Experto Credito - who will contact me within 14 days to discuss my options in detail.

I though have not had any dealings with Natwest now for over 10 years. My Ex partner and I had a loan to buy a car at least that many years ago. Our relationship shall we say ended badly - I left with nothing (except my clothes). I believe we spoke to the bank at the time about the debt and I told them that as she was keeping the car she would have to accept liability or sell the car. She kept the car. (exact details all pretty sketchy so long ago)

These letters are completely out of the blue so I am not sure what is going on, I have heard nothing about any debt as I said for 10 years.

I have just typed out and printed a statute debt letter - but If my ex has been paying the debt (amazingly after all this time was only for a few thousand!!) and now stopped does that still make me liable still even though I have paid nothing for 10 years and believed the issue to be resolved.

There is no mention of any debt on my Experian Credit Report either.

Help - I am confused but maybe thats what they want.

Roly

if its joint and she has been paying, it could be not sb but without asking you wont know
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If the debt hasn't been paid in ten years then it would be Statute Barred by now. If that's the case even acknowledging the debt at this stage wouldn't affect SBd. However if your ex has been paying then it can still be live. You really need to find out.

    Hi,

Thanks for the help thus far - I am sending off a prove it letter as really cannot understand how there can be three seperate account numbers. Or how the debt can still be live.

The information is not listed on my Experian credit report not score -

If my ex has been paying it and I have no prove or anything written down as to my liability or otherwise where does that leave me - would bank still have credit agreement etc...

You need to check all 3 credit reference agencies not just Experian. It might not be on that one - but could be on Equifax's for instance.

If its not on any of your files as a debt - check for linked people and see if your ex is listed. If she is - you need to request you are de-associated (from the credit agencies). If she is no longer linked, and the debts dont show on any of your files - ignore the letters until you get a DCA, then do a "deny" letter.
