DRO sounds like a good option,will get him to talk to CAB or CCCS.
As for the 'Asian girl',he only talked to her on-line, so a bit dubious whether she was a girl at all,i'm sure it was not a video chat.'she' lived in Phillipines I think The loans I presume were to send money to "her".:)

Has he stopped over-spending? It sounds very much as if he thinks his DMP and helpful mum will solve all his problems for him.0

Definitely talk to CAB or CCCS. There are four main criteria for a DRO:- not a property owner
- debts under 15k
- car (if you own one) worth less than £1000
- surplus income less than £50 per month
The last one may be the difficult one if he actually has £120 per month available, and the creditors have a Financial Statement showing that. However, worth looking at.0
