The selling agents of the house i am looking to buy has just informed me that the surveyers from the mortgage company have just picked up the keys.....is this a good sign? Does it mean I passed affordability and other criteria?
Thanks all

All banks usually work in a slightly different pace.

I have applied to Clydesdale and paid for the valuation from my pocket so they instructed their in house valuation team to survey the property as soon as they got general checks on my application i.e. documents in place, application filled and the details of the property are all in place. The valuation on my house has been completed and now my application has gone towards the credit check stage which I thought was the first thing to happen.

So if you are applying for a free valuation services as part of the application, I would imagine the bank to request valuation would be one of the last things to do, since they are paying for it.

I am no Financial advisor or Mortgage specialist, just thinking through my sensible side... but I may be wrong.

I havent requested anything. The mortgage company are checking out the house and i just heard because i phoned the agents on another matter. I also imagine that this is something they would do after checking me and my affordability as the mortgage company is miles away and the surveyor is local.

It does not matter where your mortgage lender is based. They would always get a local and reputable surveyor to do the job. All banks have contacts with major surveyors so have access to major local surveyors.

Valuation is part of the mortgage application, so I presume your application is going forward okay.

If you have applied through a broker, I think you can call them up and ask what stage is your application and when can you expect a result.
