HSBC - Consent to Let

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with HSBC regarding consent to let.
i have had my mortgage with them for about a year but have been offered a job in the U.S, which should be for about two years. i'd like to rent out my property in the meantime, so will need permission to let it.
what is the process like for getting this?

cant comment on HSBC but i have consent to let with Nationwide. i phoned them up, told them what i wanted to do, they sent me a form which i filled in and returned and that was that. you'll need to check whether your lender will add any charges onto your repayments and establish how long they will grant consent for.0

Mr_t,
Sorry for hi-jacking your post ive not dealt with HSBC so dont know the answer.
Fuzzyness, im with nationwide and wanting consent to let, my reason is i have a bought a new house and if i sell my flat i will lose more than i am willing to, in your expeierance with nationwide do you think they will be ok with this and let me let?
Are the fee's to do this £30 start up and additional 1.5% on current rate after 6 months? That was how i read it from the T&C's

I've recently put my home out to rent under consent to let with HSBC.
It was a very simple process, I phoned them up - they checked that I'd had no payments in arrears and said I was good to go.
However, the consent to let only lasts for a year so I'll have to confirm with them in 12 months time that I can continue to let the house.0 -
HSBC will offer 12 months consent to let with no fees or added interest provided they are happy with the running of your mortgage to date. But that's 12 months only. Anything exceeding that and they will ask you to move to a Buy to Let mortgage.
This is based on the advice they gave me when I went in to speak to them, although they may make an exception based on your circumstances.0
