has anyone heard of IBAS? Any opinions or experience?

Options
Hello sirs,

I know I may be asking a question that isnt common here, but has anyone had any dealings or experiences, or things they have read on the company IBAS?
I did post before about us being guarantors on a company that is looking to fold - the bank supplied us with our paperwork and now we have to negotiate with them as to what we are going to do.
IBAS advertises itself as an organisation set up for exactly these sorts of situations. getting in touch with them basically got me to a point where I pay a memebrship fee then they will see how they can help.

It was simply that the response I got made me wonder if these are comparable to the PPI reclaim type of people, or if they are reputable and can actually help.

Any thoughts appreciated!

My IBAS response
Guidance can be provided to you under IBAS membership because initial bank responses require careful drafting to protect your position and also because many questions you will want to ask can only be properly dealt with by our having obtained all necessary information from you. Whether you have a defence to the bank's claim is a matter on which our investigations centre once we take up a case under membership.

IBAS has negotiated business banking problems since 1992 and are a unique non-profit membership organisation which guides and advises under membership. Our advice is based on experience gained in this specialist field over 20 years and IBAS provides up to date factual information - so that our member is well aware of what is possible and what is not.
No doubt you will have already read some of the news 'pieces' and noted our relationship with the news and media since 1992 to the current date. What we do not say on our website is that we are not a sales organisation, which means we will not ‘chase' you to join us - we offer our membership to only those requiring our assistance and where their position has not already been totally compromised by DIY actions. That's because demand for IBAS membership is high and our expertise in this field is at a premium. Because of that fact would suggest your immediate response as membership is currently offered for a very limited period.
We confirm what we do and what you need to do if you require us to help you: We used to have meetings and clinics but it was wasteful on IBAS resources because we found the same ‘ground’ was repeatedly 'crossed' gathering essential information because information to properly advise is never available immediately.

Membership is intended as ‘low cost’, on going and professional assistance for a year. IBAS does not hold/have meetings under our membership structure. All contact with our members is carried out by email/post or phone from our business support unit. Member’s cases are supervised by a Senior Advisor who will contact you immediately membership is confirmed and after that all information may then be sent to the senior advisor direct by pdf.

Our membership application form is attached for completion and return because IBAS can start taking action immediately membership is confirmed and only then can we offer advice.

Our single annual business membership fee is roughly equivalent to just two hours charged by many senior specialist solicitors – because of that it is excellent value in a very specialist subject and also essential for those under direct pressure from a bank.

The membership applicable for you is Standard Personal Guarantee Membership which is £483.60 (which includes card service charges of 4% which are charged for credit/debit cards) - membership fees are one off payments and membership lasts for a year. IBAS membership fee can be paid by credit or debit card
only and this is the quickest route for our active involvement. We will take payment from your card when we receive your completed application form.

After card processing we will issue confirmation of membership with a membership reference number. Your card details will then be removed from our system and cannot be retrieved.

Membership allows personal contact and to provide our expertise and specific assistance to you. IBAS business banking investigations are only provided to our members. We are able to provide an assessment on your specific issues once we have obtained copies of correspondences/agreements/ facilities related to them. At that time we can advise you how best you may approach the situation in which you are placed.

If you have any membership questions - please email me. All enquiries are dealt with by my department quickly and efficiently by email and as previously stated only membership allows for personal contact and advice.

Regards,

Andrew at IBAS Business Helpdesk

Look at their website - it's a throwback to home made website design of 20 years ago.

Then have a look at what Google streetview throws up for their address:

Can't get the link to display correctly but put IBAS Huntingdon into Google Maps and click on the red icon it brings up, then click on street view.

Sit back and admire the ramshackle farm buildings on a country lane.

Is it looking like a good bet to pay them anything?

Pay them first, and THEN they will see if they can help?
    Sounds a great deal.....for them, it's a win win.

The description makes it sound like a one man operation.

Reminds me of those scamsters instructing people to pay on a credit card which they will get wiped off.

About 8 years ago I used them when I was being threatened with BR over a mortgage shortfall - they negotiated a F&F of about 10% - think they charged me about £250 for their services. Course had I have known then what I know I would have done it myself!
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.
