I want to make a small towel cake as a gift but do not want to roll the towel as I want the centre hollow. I have used a ring of cardboard to put the towel round but it is not stiff enough to stand up. What can I put in the middle to make it firmer before putting things on top?

Hi Irlrip
Not sure if you meant you had wrapped the towel in card or put card in centre????
when I make my Nappy cakes, I put a tube of card in the middle and all my bits and pieces go into that. Is that what you mean? are you wanting to put something inside?0 -
Hey, when I make towel cakes I make them hollow in the middle and then use tissue to make it firm, I then add things on top. Its amazing how scrunched tissue can be so sturdy! Hope that helps :-) x0

Thanks for all the replies. I put a thin piece of card inside the towel and tied it with a plant pot in the middle to get the shape. Once removing the pot I put a firmer piece of card in the middle like a tube and filled with tissue paper. Everything sat nicely on the top of it
