Help? Moving from England to n.ireland?

Hi. We have sold our house and we want to move from England and buy a property in northern Ireland. The problem is we want to move when I am on my maternity leave. OH will have secured a new job in n.ireland when we leave but I will be on maternity and hope to secure new job at end of maternity.
We will begin the purchase process for the new house whilst we are still in England and in our current jobs but will the mortgage company be alerted to the fact that our employers are in England and house in n.ireland and will they be aware/concerned that I am pregnant and Soon to be going on maternity?
Any advice is appreciated.

Work on the basis you won't have an income which can be taken into account. This should ensure you achieve decent affordability too.

Lenders often look into the distance between employment and residence, as one of the ways of avoiding back-door buy to let rental applications.

  • If the job offer is in writing then submit it as part of your application, this would answer the reason about why you want to buy in NI. Do you not have to return to work for a period of time after your maternity leave, otherwise you may have to pay back your employer?

    Hi
I moved from the SE of England to Northern Ireland last August and love it. A word of warning house prices are falling like a stone and the prices on Propertypal bear no reality at to what things are going for. The average house price last quarter was £137k compared to £240k in 2007.
I know it doesn't really answer your question about the mortgage and your maternity pay issue, but good luck with it all
