my gf is in a pickle

when my gf was with her ex they lived with his mother. his mother used to blow all of her money and regularly asked my gf to take out loans on her behalf and agreed to pay them off herself. she has now split up with him and now has no idea if she is still paying them off. a recent credit check returned a result "very bad" and the total debt owed is £7000. this would suggest the exes mother is not continuing payments - and from what my gf says she is not of the sort of character that would care that someone else is getting a bad name as a result of her
any advice?

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than myself will reply soon, but I would suggest that your GF needs to tackle this in 2 ways -firstly by contacting her creditors to get an arrangement in place to deal with her commitments. Secondly, by taking action to recover the money her ex's mother owes to her - assuming that that this can either be done amicably, or that she can evidence the debt and pursue it through the courts.0

The girlfriend is liable for any debt in her own name.
So in effect, your girlfiriend borrowed this money and loaned it to her exes mother.
Does she have any proof of the money owed to her. If she hasnt, she is stuffed, basically.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I imagine she is somewhat stuffed. I suppose this is a very harsh lesson in how these sort of arrangements can go wrong.
I've no advice to offer but I wanted to wish you and your girlfriend all the very best for the future and I hope you manage to get at least some of the money back.0 -
she has no proof of the money owed to her - she was taken for a complete fool by the whole family by the sounds of it0
