Sainsbury's Electrical

My wife ordered one of those fancy little 'Husky' beer fridges from Sainsbury's Electrical a couple of weeks back for my birthday which was yesterday. I'd been after one for years and was chuffed when I realised she'd got me one.
When I excitedly opened the packaging I was expecting to find a nice new fridge in there. The box itself wasn't in the best of condition but I figured it had probably been sitting in a warehouse so I didn't worry too much about that. Then I saw the fridge. It looked like it had been in a war zone!
It was dented on one side, the rear corner (where it must have been dropped from a decent height) was stoved in significantly and the door was almost hanging off its hinges. This would have been bad enough, but it looks like someone has put masking tape across the door of the fridge AFTER it was damaged because the tape lined up on both the door and the fridge. If it had been put on before the damage then the tape wouldn't have lined up as the door and fridge are a good distance out of being in line, yet the tape is.
My wife rang Sainsbury's and they will be sending out a credit note for the fridge as well as a £20 voucher but that isn't really the point. The point is that the thing had clearly been dropped and badly damaged, yet someone appears to have had a quick look and decided to package it back up again and send it out to a customer anyway. Very disappointed.

Just adding a couple of pics to show the extent of the damage.

The 'fix' won't be put in to hold the door in place, all fridges are taped like this in transit.
I think Sainsbury's deserve nothing but praise here to be honest, money back and a £20 voucher is a good result for what was I imagine an accident in the warehouse that slipped through.0 -
I'm not knocking the fact that Sainsbury's are being entirely reasonable about it, I made a point of saying that I wasn't annoyed with Sainsbury's themselves at all.
What I am annoyed with is that someone at some point must have seen the damage to the fridge and instead of sending it back to the manufacturers or having it written off, thought it was in good enough condition to send out to a customer. Surely after it had been dropped it should have been inspected for damage?
We have to take the fridge back to Sainsbury's ourselves though, this is going to be a bit of a problem as it won't fit in either of our cars...but I'll find a way, it just means I'll have to call in a favour from a friend with an estate car or a van, or worst case scenario is I'll have to borrow a van from work! It sucks living out in the middle of nowhere! It's going back this Saturday one way or the other!0 -
Any images of the packaging itself?"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Unfortunately nothing directly of the packaging, the best I have is a shot of one corner of it in the background of a photo of the fridge itself. In fairness the packaging didn't look spectacularly bad, although on the corner it had been dropped on it was a little shabby, but other than that it looked at first glance to be half decent.
My wife managed to persuade a neighbour to help take it back yesterday afternoon too, otherwise I'd get a couple of photos of it too. (Thank god for helpful neighbours, saves me a job at the weekend!)0
