Mortgage and buying two proerties

Hello

I am in the process of buying two properites. One up north (which i am going to live in at the weekend) 50 k mortgage and the one in london (for work) 87k mortage. Both properites have large deposits

I have applied for a mortgage with one of the major banks which was approved yesterday. I have rang up today to apply for the second mortgage with the same lender but they are now saying this will be referred to the underwriters...is this normal? SOmething to do with credit checking twice in a couple days the 'system' could reject it....is this normal?

Thanks in advance for everyones replies.

Yasmin :)
