what can I cook?

I have some steak defrosting. What can I do with it?

I have loads of stuff in (the usual tin toms, rice, pasta, herbs etc) but not fresh veg or garlic.

What do you think? can you do a curry without garlic?

PS it has to be nice enough for boyf as well. if it was just me i would have chickpea curry!

Steak served on top of sliced grilled tomato is nice served with a jacket potato. Yes you can do curry without garlic........I do it this way as I don't like garlic!

Do you have potatoes? I'd do steak and chips with tinned toms/peas on the side. Mmmm... Simple and lovely. Good food to impress boyfs too too :D

Don't do anything to a nice piece of steak. Just season well and simply grill/fry it. Serve with chips or jacket potato and nice bit of salad on the side.

What kind of steak? Makes a big difference - no good grilling a piece of braising steak it'll end up tough as old boots!

Good steak (rump, sirloin, fillet) grill and serve with chips, onion rings, mushrooms and maybe a nice sauce.

Braising steak I'd brown then put in a casserole with onions, carrots, beef stock, salt, pepper and cook for about 2 hours in a fairly low oven.

Or you could cube it and brown, add onions and curry powder, again put in casserole and cook slowly for melt in the mouth curry.
