Merchant advice in eBay

I've recently started small time merchanting on eBay, my profit is £72 per 100 items. They sell fast as I've sold 10 today - I'm currently charging 50p postage to cover the cost of stamps but when I've orderd of eBay in the past most sellers send in a plastic bag with no stamp... How do you do this? If not how else can I send in a more efficient way if I can cut the 50p charges out I can get more buisness = more sales

Thank you!
Total amount of debt - £3540
Overdraft - £1540
Credit Card - £2000

Amount Payed - £100

  • You can either pay for postage online or set up a business account with Royal Mail however with the latter you have to be sending a very large amount of packages. Or there's a franking machine but you have to pay for that so it is whether or not it is worth it. Even if you can cut any costs it will only shave a couple of pence off and unless you're sending thousands of items out each month then it won't be worth the extra costs you will incur doing one of the above. Hope that helps and I also hope you're registered as a business on Ebay with the Distance Selling Regulations obeyed. I've just about had it with sellers on there who think they can break the law haha!

You can buy stamps off ebay, usually around 10% cheaper than buying from the shops.

For Royal Mail accounts, you don't have to be sending that much mail to get one. But its a lot of hassle imo, creating orders online, sorting into different bags, attaching labels etc to bags and inside bags. The same would be for a franking machine.

Royal Mail accounts do give quite a good discount though, it would be best to phone them and you get a Postage Paid number and then stamp this or print and stick it to your mail and then pay the total of all your monthly mail at the end of the month (you will have to pass a credit check)
