Should I just resign??

 Long story short.. Been off work for a year with work related stress caused by bullying. Seen o.h three times and line manager every month, been advised by union to stick to informal procedures as it would be too 'stressful' for me to go through formal procedures. Union rep is pals with line manager. Wish I'd never listened to them  tried to go back to work a month ago but employer withdrew the offer made to me (over 9months) for me to return to work on a quiet day which would just be to get me in the door. I am gutted and am now facing being laid off on capability, haven't ever been advised to put a grievance in (too late now??) and can't claim unfair/constructive dismissal because of this.

Emails/phone calls to union have gone unanswered other than to say that they're not putting me forward for legal assistance - no reason given - I am so furious with the lack of union 'support' I've had that I'm just ready to give up and resign :(

What union are you in? Have you rang the union or just YOUR union rep?

You can ask for an escalation to head office if it is a larger union.

bulllying is "very subjective" and hard to prove without evidence. Eg a colleague cited something they beleived as bullying and when I was called in as a "witness" I had to agree it was no such thing. It was a comment regarding performance and not bullying - Same thing is said to me regularly, but for the colleage it was bullying and 6 mos on the sick with stress.

Of course there would have been "unseen things" but rarely are they done in public and so the evidence usually doesn't side with those claiming.

Seriously - ring your union HO who are impartial - fill out a case form and ask for a legal referral.

If you have been bullied - this is the time to take back control!

My branch are normally good - Keep on at them (you get good and bad people everywhere, just because 1 is bad doesn't mean they all are).

Phone regularly, keep on at them and now they will have the national branch emailing they will reply.

Do you work for a Local Authority? If not then ask for a local authority rep to take your case who will be impartial.
