feeling very disappointed with the dishonesty of some people in this world, can you believe somebody actually emailed us and pretended to be our "May winner"......the first we knew of this was when our real winner got in touch this week! Congratulations by the way to the "real julie" your retro goody bag is on its way!
I wish companies would contact their winners via a private message! Simply announcing a winners name and asking them o send their details to an email address is just asking for trouble!

I did wonder how many dishonest people would try and claim others prizes because of companies just announcing names. Shocking!!!
Hopefully they learn to pm or email the winners and ask if they can announce their name etc first!July 2013 wins: Lilac Skoot, Night out for 2 at Nandos & Cineworld
Best wins so far: £500, GHD styler, Tassimo T40 Machine0 -
that disgusts me!
Why can't companies be bothered to private message or email their winners? grrrr! :mad:0 -
That's so bad... what is wrong with people?!

All they have to do is message the winner via facebook! If the winner is a fan they it is so easy!!!! It would also help winners to not miss a win!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

I agree, I don't understand whats so hard about that. Or at least tag their name so the winner is alerted/made public. Hopefully it will catch on soon!:j0

I did a search on my name a short while ago and found that someone had 'borrowed' it to use on their FB account. It helps that I have a rare name (or spelling of it at least). I reported it and it got retired, but it's really worth checking.
Hopefully, those running comps will learn to tighten security as more of these breaches come to light.
Thanks for the alert BlueBella :cool:I am brave, I am bruised

When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
i actually thought about that the other day, not stealing someones identity, but why don't they just tag people with the @ or message them.
I only wondered about it as I won something on boysstuff on facebook and had to message them, let alone those that say to email them as opposed to a facebook message.
Not sure if your facebook settings could affect pages, if 'liked' pages can send direct messages if you have friends only in your privacy settings.
Glad I discovered here for the constantly updated facebook winners list.0 -

I frequently run competitions for my business on twitter and I had several dishonest people trying to claim prizes in the past. Now I always ask the winner to DM me with their details. I don't know why such larger companies are still using these outdated ways to announce winners!0
