Melons

Anyone know where i can find a decent sized melon at the moment, all of the supermarkets seem to only have grapefruit sized ones which my 2 boys would devour in seconds!

Lidl is good for melons. Full-sized watermelons are £1.99 at the moment, not sure how much other types are, but they do stock them and looked a decent, normal size to me when I saw them at the weekend.

Lidl's Honeydews are minute too ! They are being advertised as "new season" :rotfl::rotfl: I think they are £1.39.

The only decent sized ones are the Piel de Sapo in Waitrose but they are £2.50 ea.

Have you tried street markets which have greengrocers? They tend to have bigger fruits of all types.

Also try Greek and Turkish stores and if you are able to, any other foreign food/grocer type stores, they seem to always have bigger looking fruits, I think its because they have more sun then us!

Thanks for your replies, Lidl's were small too when i looked the other day, we don't have a Waitrose but i did forget about the market so i will look in there on Saturday, thankyou!

Aldi have galia melons for 69p at moment. Not huge, but at that price you can get more than one!
