Who regulates credit report agencies?!?

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to cancel a free credit report trial with Equidfax for the past week but their telephone number is not working - every time I call I get a message saying "this number is not in service, please try again later". I have written them a letter asking for the trial to be cancelled but have not have a response. I don't want them takinng any money from my account and won't be happy if they claim that I didn;t contact them in time to cancel!
Any idea who I can report them to? Is it the OFT? Someone should know that they don't have a funnctioning number and that customers are not able to contact them.
Many thanks

Hi
My OH and I recently got through to Equifax, is this the number you have tried (sorry if Im not suppose to put it here):
0844 335 0550£9,000 (Ish) in 2013
Paid:
£32.20 / £4492.66 Debt
£50.00 / £650.00 Holiday
£00.00 / £4000.00 House0 -
So strange - that's the number I've been using. It's not worked up until this morning but have just got through. Thank you for your reply.
Not impressed with their customer services though and they tried to offer me free credit alerts for a year. I turned it down: highly unlikely I would remember to cancel in a years time at which time they could start charging me (what they hope would happen, of course). If anyone is trying to decide which credit agency to get a report from I would recommend Experian, their customer services are UK based and much more efficient.0
