Need an advisor

Hi

In a month's time my bankruptcy will come off my credit file and this week I was approved for a Vanquis Credit Card.

My partner and I recently moved in together and he doesn't know about my BR so I am keen not to adversely affect him or his propensity to get credit in the future.

Once my BR comes off my report, I would like to set up a business and open a business account but I am not sure if I can.

I have been looking for someone who specializes in knowing how to clean up and improve credit files post bankruptcy. Advising on how to work through getting back on the financial treadmill in the best way possible i.e. credit cards, mortgages etc without affecting a partner.

Looking at the situation holistically and advising until the BR is no longer relevant? I.e when I can get a mortgage or when I need not worry about it when I apply for credit.

I guess this person would be a financial advisor who can arrange all these things for me but who has a good understand of credit reference agencies and who knows the system.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Best Wishes

Jesca

    Hi

Unless you are financially linked you will not affect your partners credit rating.

Have a look at the Credit reference file cleanup - post bankruptcy sticky and it will guide you on how to cleanup your credit files.

You can then start to build up your credit history by using your vanquis and paying the full amount every month.

Unfortunately even though the BR will fall of your credit file it is still with you for life. So if ever asked the question 'have you ever been declared bankrupt' then by law you will have to answer honestly. This question will be asked by pretty much by all mortgage providers.

Doesn't mean you will never get a mortgage though. Have a look at this thread for some tips about mortgages post bankruptcy

Thank you for your advice Mazman83.

I have read the post about mortgages and this was particularly helpful. It is a relief to read a success story!

I take it if I try and get a JOINT mortgage or a JOINT bank account then this will affect my partner? What about when my BR comes off my credit file?

I was going to start by getting a joint bank account to manage bills and stuff but I am scared in case this affects his chances of getting a single named mortgage later on (instead of a joint one for now).

Perhaps its better he get a mortgage and after that we get a joint bank account then that way he already has the loan.....

eeeekkkk so many questions! I was hoping I would find someone on here who specialises in financial advice for BRs.

    Best Wishes
