Boots Hayfever tabs, bogof and £2.50 off

In boots today they had lots of hayfever tablets on bogof and also in the acm I had a voucher for £2.50 off a spend of £10.00 or more on all healthcare ( off the shelf medicines, tablets etc) I bought Clarityn 7 day pack x 6 for £3.39 each bogof = £10.17 then less the voucher = £7.67 for 6 packs so a saving of £12.67, great if you have lots of hayfever sufferers!:p

Good deal if you need to buy your own, but if you are entitled to free prescriptions you can get cetrizine (same as Zyrtec) or other, similar, tablets for free from your GP. I have a months supply on repeat prescription.

Just quickly - if you don't have any brand loyalty (I have money loyalty), they're usually £1 a pack in ASDA, I'm sure the other biggies do their own brands too, and they're often 50p a pack in Wilkinsons.

I buy them obsessively every time they're on offer, having a kid who can barely sit in a stationary car without getting travel sick (lol) and a husband who is seriously allergic to insect stings, I have packs of allergy tablets in/on every bag, pocket and shelf I own.

It's bonkers buying these in Boots, even with these sort of offers, much cheaper to buy generic versions online.

You ended up with 42 tablets for £7.67, but at somewhere like:

    http://www.chemist-4-u.com/Loratadine.html

you'd pay 69p per pack of 30, plus £2.95 delivery for exactly the same thing - so you could have had 180 tablets for less money.

They also have generics in Poundworld (both Loratadine and Cetirizine) 7 days £1, in Aldi the generics are 14 days for £1. Boots also had a value brand (white pack with red writing) 7 days for £1.

I don't think you lost out on too much money on buying them in Boots to be worried about ;)

Packs of 14 'own brand'- both normal and non-drozy- are £1 each in Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's. I have been using them for years and work just as well as any 'premium' brand.

I really don't understand how some of these brands, inc Boots gets away with charging £3-5 for 7 tablets?

It's a racket for sure- especially when 14 Cetrizine cost me 50p in Tesco last year, yet look for a brand name but again with Cetrizine- £5-7!

Boots do have own brand packs for 99p in a white no frills box with red writing. In my Boots they were tucked away on the bottom shelf with the hope you would get distracted by the more expensive brands.
