what I want to know is if its worth getting a job or stay on job-seekers, is it more likely to get an ED when on benefits?
Should (in theory) not effect whether you get ED or not.my other issue is that before leaving I took out 3 grands from my credit cards to finance my travel (rent a place, food .. )so would the OR pick on this ?
Depends whether they consider that you had a reasonable prospect of repaying it when you did. Presumably that was the plan if you were looking for work? Just didn't work out?
Would only be a small prospect of a bankruptcy restriction being extended for a while after discharge anyway. Even that is probably unlikely. Sean people fund holidays on cards in the year before BR when they didn't know the would end up BR, and it's been no big deal.
As said, get some advice.
Creditors can take token payments and lump it for some time if needed, so there is no need to rush into things.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It's not that difficult to do 'letter ping pong', in time their letters get less and less frequent. If you have the right letters you wouldn't be acknowledging the debt. I have been 'playing ping pong' for over two years! :jPippa, unless I am much mistaken the debts have only not been paid for a few months so waiting fir them to go statute barred is a huge risk and would take some serious letter ping pong etc at the same time managing not to acknowledge the debt.0 -
Guys I don't know if its the right place to share but no one knows about the mess I'm in, about a year ago I was a city boy full of life and joy I always paid my loans & CC on time I only stopped paying about 5 months ago due to redundancy! as I left the UK I haven't heard from anyone and I still have no job and no money.I am experiencing the evil side of life now! :-(
I don't know if I will ever be that same person again....0 -
Hey
Do not beat yourself up about it. Life is full of ups and downs and as the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
You may not see it now, but this may help you in the long run, you will have seen life looking up and down.
If you knew the mess i was in, you would see, stuff happens .
This site is great if you want to save money or for general advice, but in my opinion there is only 1 site to go to for real debt help, which is a lot smaller than this site and a lot more personal.
It is aclled all about debt so google all about debt forums.0
