Joint Loan help needed please

Hi,

Hoping someone may be able to help? I have been with my fiance for 5 years. We own our own home but have a huge problem relating to his previous relationship. When they sold their house (roughly 2005) they ended up in negative equity and owed £17,000. My partner has been paying this off ever since, when I first met him he was paying £256 per month and the last two years he's paid £100 per month. She has paid nothing and refuses to. Northern Rock are aware of this but just threaten my partner with going to court and this is the last thing we want. Has anyone been in a similar situation? He has paid thousands now why she gets away paying nothing. Any advice at all would be much appreciated??

The loan has also barely changed due to the ridiculously high interest rate too. We just want to see some light at the end of the tunnel and get on with our own lives without this hanging over us.

Thanks in advance for your time

C x

I guess they will chase the one willing to pay. Don't know if this went to court whether there is such a thing as a joint CCJ?

    Anyone?

If so and they still have ex contact details then that might be a wake up call for them.

Thank you for your reply, really appreciated.

It hasn't been to court no, he's just paid and as such they haven't chased her...but he doesn't want to not pay in case it did/affected credit etc as we'd like to move house in a couple of years and worry things may affect our home. We know roughly where she is as we know her parents address where she lived until recently...she is out the country currently but just for the summer I think..

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
