Hi All
First Timer....I am looking to purchase a new mattress for our 4 year old daughter new Scallywag starter bed (Standard single - 190cm x 90cm).
A couple of options on the table are:
1. A supplier in Farnham (Surrey), for £175 delivered:
The Rainbow Wood - "Toby" Mattress is constructed of 2cm of 60kg Memory Foam on a 13cm base of High Density Foam.
Option to upgrade to our deluxe memory foam mattress (pocket sprung option also available) featuring temperaturing regulating cover for just £40.
1. John Lewis have one too, but very pricey and not sure if this is justified:
little home at John Lewis Children's Natural Pocket Mattress, Single
£350
There are so many different types/forums re: mattresses in general, but strangely not much information on children's mattresses hence this post.
Tim Deegan seems to be the man on MSE for bed info, but not sure he will read this. So can anyone recommend a good quality mattress for children, that will last please?
Thanks,
Paul

Memory foam mattress or pocket sprung for a 4 year old is over kill. With their lack of body weight they will hardly dent the mattress. I would go for a run of the mill £100 ish Open coil spring mattress and replace it when they are 10 or so.
I'm in the trade and that's what my son sleeps on who's 5. Bear in mind the difference at cost between them to me is peanuts. Better quality mattresses are designed more for adult weights.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
I paid just under £100 for a sprung mattress today for my 6yr old - just went to a local bed shop My 4 year old has a £75 one, it is 24cms thick and seems really comfortable (I paid a little more I think cos I needed them at 200cms for a continental single)
They showed me a foam one as well, it was really firm0 -
I think the ones you have seen are too expensive. We have just got one from M&S with a bunk bed (so we got the 20% off as we were buying 2 items). It is the anti allergy one for £129 and we are happy with it

They also have one at £99 but we went for anti allergy as we needed that for my daughter0
