Will this make me ill?

Afternoon all. I cooked a mushroom curry and rice last Wednesday, and refrigerated it straight away. Would this be safe to eat tonight or should I get rid?!! I hate waste but its not worth getting ill over!

Thanks in advance.

With it being rice I'm inclined to say don't risk it.

Are they seperate, the curry should be okay but rice can carry a toxin when its reheated.

No they are in an airtight container together. Think I will throw them, just not worth the risk. Just feel annoyed with myself for wasting perfectly good food.:rotfl:

Does it smell ok? If it did I'd be tempted to just make up some more rice and stir fry it with the curry (being sure to heat all the way through) to make a sort of pilaf.

  • Unlike most people, i'll eat rice if it's a couple days old and have had no problems. But 5-6 days is quite risky, i would throw the rice and just make up some new and have the curry :)

Unless you freeze rice straight away, you shouldn't eat it after one day.

No,I'd bin it,as said before rice can have a toxin in it,that's why they say Fried rice from a Chinese take away is better than boiled rice.

I'd eat it if it was only a couple of days old. If cooked, and stored properly rice should be fine. I always re-heat leftover rice the next day, and have always been ok.

    Cook fresh rice.

I'm afraid I would bin both bits even if they hadn't been mixed. Five days is pushing it, I imagine the mushrooms would have gone slimy by now and the rice loaded with toxin (which wouldn't smell off, btw).
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
