You will get iTunes software with your iPod....dead easy to use and it arranges your music into various genres e.g artist, albums, songs, genres, composers which you can then access on your iPod...also does playlists.

I imported mine from USA, (on EBay), much cheaper that way but you have to be prepared to pay import duty if you are unlucky!

  • You will not be able to use Windows Media Player (WMP) to transfer songs onto your iPod. iTunes is a program like WMP which enables you to get your songs on to your pod. By default WMP converts songs from cds into Windows Media Audio (.wma). If your songs are .wma, iTunes will convert them to a format that the iPod will recognise. However if you want the best quality music then it may be better to re-rip them using iTunes and then transfer your music to your iPod.

I got mine from Hong Kong when I was on Holiday there and at the time saved about £100 compared to buying it over here.

You can get the 20Gb version for around £189 from Apple directly. Go to the apple website and check out the refurbished iPods. They come with 12 months apple warranty ( the same as what you would get from any other place)

    My reality check bounced.
  • Beware that the iPods that are in the refurb store site are not the current models. They are the ones with 4 buttons below the screen. I think Apple should state that on the site but if you look at the original product price you can see that they are not the current ones.

if you want to use iPod in your car you can buy a tape adapter quite cheaply. also there is something called an iTrip which can be picked up on ebay which is short range FM transmitter. Might not be 100% legal to use (you are allowed to own one) in this country.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • Is this the 4th generation model? ???

  • If using the iPod in the car is a key requirement, as I see it you have 3 options:

    1) use a cassette adaptor
    2) use an iTrip
    3) get a full ICE setup

option 1 only works if you have a tape player in your car (obviously!). Cheap and cheerful :)
option 2 is, strictly speaking, illegal in the UK. Plus, you have to find an empty frequency in the FM range to use it - and that's not easy, particularly in a built-up urban environment such as London. Also, if you're on the move you may find that you have to keep retuning the itrip and your radio to avoid interference from local stations. Don't try retuning while you're driving!
option 3 is the most expensive, but the best option for quality - check out http://www.ipodlounge.com/reviews_more.php?id=2692_0_6_0_M
