Stupid but how stupid?

Had debts of about 8k. Was all ready to do cheap Scottish bankruptcy when I had a windfall taking me over the limit, but not enough to settle all debts, so advisor did various calculations for settlement AND sent off an official form about my mental health, to get them written off.
This was maybe 6 months ago
Have bipolar, so obviously now I realise that I should not have spent any of the windfall, most of it went in a somewhat manic and delusional state.
In that state I really did believe that the debts had been written off and argued with DH about it.
So now I am depressed, cowering in bed and paranoid about debt collectors.
