I smashed my pelvis in five places and shattered my coxic (sp) so my pelvis is very badly mishapened and sitting is very painful for me but being a fulltime wheelie I dont have any choice, I have tried umpteen cushions and I still cant find one that really works for more than an hour or so so I spend most od my time in bed where I can recline more comfortably.

Im currently trying another air cushion, my wheelchair therapist thinks air is the best for me as they adjust to my unique shape but it's not very comfortable.
Apologies for the thread hijack. http://www.gerald-simonds.co.uk/catalog/product.php?CI_ID=108

The Vicair 10 is what I use and my life sitting down would be impossible without it. Driving my car without it, 30 minutes and I'm in agony. Driving my car with this under me, 2+ hours easily!

Alas my local hospital where I have physio say no, we can't give you a 2nd cushion for the car as it's against health and safety. What's safer, me driving and being in severe pain within 20 minutes or me driving comfortably with this non-risk of the cushion sliding from under me?

Anyway, I would look into this cushion! I too would be spending most of my life in bed without it. It takes a while to get all of the pockets right but when you do it's a godsend.

Edit: I'm not suggesting you buy from the link I quoted! I've searched around and got a best price of £409 and will no doubt buy my 2nd cushion even at that price just to have one for the car. The link is only provided to illustrate what it is.
