2 Questions, regarding direct debits and halifax £100 offer

I am wanting to try and get first directs £100 (+£25 through MSE) switching bonus, but I don't have any direct debits, could I just set up 2 sending say £1 to my other account or say Girlfriend?
Also, seeing the halifax switching bonus is running again, could I close my account and then switch from another account and get the £100? Do you get £100 through joint accounts as well?
Cheers in advance for any replies!

Your sending of £1 would be a standing order and not a direct debit hence it wont qualify AFAIK. I am in a similar situation and according to other members best is to setup a paypal account direct debit plus a saving account direct debit (Perhaps from another bank?)
Dont know the answer to your second question to be honest. I hope it does as its extra £100 for ya0 -

Thanks, the T&C state 2 Direct debits and/or 2 standing orders, so I presume I can set up 2 standing orders to my other current accounts, would this work, or would it have to be someone else?
I wasn't really going to cancel my account, just my Brother and Sister both have a savings account with them they don't really use, but that is stopping them opening an account.

If you read their T&C it states
1. To qualify for the £100 switching incentive (the "offer") you must successfully apply for a new Halifax Current Account, Halifax Reward Current Account or Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account and use the Halifax Switching Service/Team to switch your existing current account from another bank. This means transferring all your direct debits and other regular payments, along with all your automated credits from your existing bank to your new Halifax bank account ("your account") with us.
2. We reserve the right to claim back the offer if you do not complete the switch from your existing current account by transferring all your direct debits and other regular payments, along with your automated credits to your account.
3. This offer only applies to applications received in branch, online or by telephone between 6th June 2012 and midnight on 15th July 2012.
4. To be eligible for the offer customers must have a minimum of 2 direct debits on their existing bank account to transfer across to their new Halifax bank account.
5. Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts opened under the offer will only be eligible for one payment.

OP's "DDs and/or SOs" statement relates to the FD account.
His secondary question (on joint accounts) relates to the Halifax account switching offer.0 -
